Inspired by the Masters

The Joii Rattan Armchair draws its spirit from the iconic Easy Armchair by Pierre Jeanneret, a symbol of honest design born in the post-colonial modernism of Chandigarh. Known for its bold V-shaped legs and exposed joinery, Jeanneret’s work celebrated simplicity, function, and a deep respect for materials.

Our team studied his original hand-drawn sketches—each line purposeful, each angle architectural. Rather than replicate, we reimagined: keeping the soul intact while adapting for modern interiors.

Wood, Woven Soul, and the Hand that Builds

At Joii, we believe great furniture starts with raw beauty: the grain of the wood, the texture of real rattan, the imprint of a human hand.

Each Joii Rattan Armchair is crafted from a selection of sustainably sourced hardwoods — teak, ash, or walnut — depending on the desired finish and tone. These frames are hand-assembled, sanded, and finished in our workshop, where old-world craftsmanship still guides every gesture.

The seat and backrest are made of natural rattan, hand-woven using traditional caning techniques. It breathes, it flexes, and it softens with time — just as it should.

Designed for Now

We softened the original silhouette just slightly — inviting it into more intimate spaces. The backrest reclines a touch more. The arms feel warmer to the touch. And with a variety of finishes — from rich walnut to pale ash — each chair feels personal, curated, and quietly striking.
